Juicy Boerewors Pasta Bake
A family favorite with a proudly local twist
This recipe combines creamy cheese, rich tomato, and our signature Jandres boerewors for a meal that's pure comfort.
Ingredients:
From Jandres Meat Market:

500g boerewors (mild or spicy)

1 tsp Jandre’s house spice mix (optional)
From your pantry:

250g penne or macaroni
-
1 onion (chopped)
-
2 garlic cloves (minced)
-
1 can chopped tomatoes (400g)

2 tbsp tomato paste
-
1 tsp mixed herbs
-
Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup grated cheddar
-
½ cup grated mozzarella
-
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
1. Boil the Pasta:
Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Cook the Boerewors:
Cut boerewors into chunks. Fry in olive oil until browned. Remove from pan.
3. Make the Sauce:
In the same pan, sauté onion and garlic. Add tomatoes, paste, herbs, salt, pepper, and optional spice mix. Simmer for 10 minutes.
4. Mix It All Together:
Combine pasta, boerewors, and sauce in a large bowl. Mix in half the cheddar.
5. Bake It:
Pour into a greased oven dish. Top with remaining cheddar and mozzarella.
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
6. Serve Warm:
Top with fresh basil or a sprinkle of chili flakes if you like heat.
Tip:
Make it extra rich by adding a spoon of cream or a dollop of cream cheese to the sauce before baking.
